Grey Lynn Paddling Pool and Playground: Have fun on the flying fox, skate ramp and playground then cool off in the swimming pool, which is open until
Camping in the backyard: Setting up a tent in the backyard can keep my little ones busy for a whole weekend. We haven’t quite achieved them actually sleeping in the tent all night but the excitement and imaginary play that happens is a delight to watch.
Bike ride to the local dairy to get an ice-cream: I am all about exercise that includes a treat at the end! My kids love biking with me to the nearest cafe, playground or dairy. It’s a great chance to teach bike safety and awareness of the road.
Bethells Beach Sand Boarding: If you take the track towards Lake
Sand and Sea: We are so lucky to live in Auckland and have so many incredible beaches nearby. All my kids need is a spade and bucket and are entertained for hours. A good spade is essential and some muscles come in handy too! Try your hand at sand sculpting – it’s great fun!
Explore the Caves: With an easy walk from the carpark to North Head in Devonport, you can explore the caves (with torches), interlinking tunnels and forts. The caves can be a bit spooky for the little or sensitive ones but are not to be missed. Auckland looks pretty impressive from the top too.
Movies in the Park: This is for the older kids and the ones you can cope with the next day after staying up after 9pm! Hosted by Auckland Council all over Auckland. Loads of excellent movies that both you and your kids will enjoy. there is nothing like sitting outside in the fresh air watching a movie in a park. Bonus: many now have beanbags and food trucks too.

They had so much fun making the sign, discussing the plan and counting the profits. Find a friend, neighbour or family member who has a fruit tree and get the kids selling.
Pump Tracks: I had no idea how many of these awesome BMX tracks are in Auckland. The boys loved riding over the bumps and watching experts BMX fast around the tracks. Helmets a must!
Water play at home: Nothing like a bit of
